Capabilities

Supply of a specialized polymer material for a unique application is commonly overlooked or underestimated in the process of product development. You need a supplier who can adapt both material and production volume to fit your needs. You need a supplier who can hit cost targets, is aware of new technologies, and understands your business needs. You need to integrate logistics, quality, and reliability into the development process, which is not always easily solved when volumes are low.

Bay Materials solves those problems on a daily basis.

Bay Materials has expertise in managing businesses that are dependent on polymer materials supply and process reproducibility, so we understand the rules for successfully supplying unique materials. We can develop and supply low to medium volumes of custom polymer resins, and work with our customers to qualify larger or more efficient suppliers. We believe that we do well only if our customers are doing well.

Bay Materials has a track record of "rapid response" to meeting the needs of manufacturing demand once scale up is initiated. Our personnel have experience in product development and manufacturing procedures that demand high performance materials. Our quality procedures are established to meet the requirements of ISO9000.

Our Supply Capabilities Include:

Polymer Materials Manufacturing. . .

Our primary manufacturing strength is directed towards manufacturing small volumes of custom polymer materials. Materials are typically sourced in the form of raw resin and modified to meet the application requirements of our customers.

We maintain a stringent quality system and quality control practice that cover both in-house and external manufacturing operations. In addition, we have a network of partnerships with vendors who offer extensive support for tailoring materials and manufacturing needs.

Extrusion. . .

Randcastle extrusion and co-extrusion line consisting of 3/4 and 5/8 inch extruders with sheet dies, casting roll, take up, and related equipment, 2-1/2 and 3-1/2 inch extrusion film and sheet lines.

Molding. . .

Carver Wabash Model 75 hydraulic compression press for low volume production runs and rapid turn around prototype part production.

  • Small-scale pressure former for rapid part prototyping.
  • Injection molders ranging from 50 to 250 tons.
  • PHI compression mold presses for test sample preparation.

Plastics Converting. . .

Our in-house plastics converting and polymer processing equipment enables us to tailor a polymer or precursor to your specifications, including die cutting, laminating, UV curing, and slitting.

  • Hoefer Crosslinker UV curing sytem
  • Accu-Seal 530 heat sealing machine
  • Clean room processing

Custom Process Equipment. . .

Low dew point hot air dryers for processing moisture sensitive materials, including polyurethane, polycarbonate, nylon, polyester, and other engineering resins.
Brabender plasticorder for preparing polymer blends and composites for characterization and evaluation of rheological properties.
